Our Core Mission
The Ethos AI Registry exists as independent civic infrastructure — a neutral, public-interest standard for documenting the AI systems shaping everyday life. We are not a regulator and not a vendor. We are the connective tissue between the people building AI, the communities living with its outputs, and the institutions responsible for oversight.
Our role is to bridge data transparency across three constituencies:
- Public interest groups — advocacy, journalism, and civil society organizations who need structured, verifiable records to hold systems accountable.
- Researchers — academics and independent auditors who benefit from a standardized corpus of AI system disclosures, audits, and reported harms.
- Government entities — policymakers and agencies who require consistent evidence to draft, enforce, and evaluate AI oversight.
Everything published here is designed to be traceable, comparable, and community-verifiable — the baseline conditions for real accountability.
